About Us

We - Darren & Shumei have a passion for Dim Sims & Dumplings and this became our formula to success and soon became Shumeis Dumpling Co.

We serve delicious Dim Sims and Dumplings that we locally hand make ourselves to ensure they are rich in flavours and to the best quality.

We have customers varying in age from babies to 90 year olds. My wife and I feel that with our pricing structure and our ready to eat products at markets and festivals, gives us good exposure to a huge range of clients and we get to serve the best quality food every time.

Our journey in the food industry

As I grew and gained more experience, I was able to find my own passion for cooking. My wife Shumei is Chinese and lived in a city called Shenyang which is in the north of China and is renowned by the Chinese as the dumpling capital of China. Shumei and her five sisters are natural at cooking, and they all have a passion for great tastes in food. 

Both of us come from families of hard-working parents. We were taught that if you are going to be successful, you need to have a passion and love for what you do to be able to reap the rewards you desire.

No pain no gain.

Tough times

To survive in the food industry is very tough, to be successful at the game is very rare.

Shumei and I have learned through experience that “When you are at your worst you need to be at your best. If you can’t keep your brain and mind going flat out and salvage all you can you will go down with the ship.”
 

Passion for food and success

We decided to set up a small business doing what we know and love. We now have a small handmade Dim Sim and Dumpling factory and do the farmers markets, variety markets, festivals and events in Geelong, Bellarine, Surf coast and most of the surrounding areas. 

Going through tough times and our unforgettable experience puts us where we are today with our passion for dim Sims and dumplings.

We have strived to make the best quality products using only the highest quality ingredients and take pride in delivering a product that has no additives and is manufactured under very stringent hygiene conditions for our customers.

Our experience increasing sales at markets over the past 2 years are at 300%. The proof is the growing number of our customers that have a love for good food.

Our growing business is named Shumeis Dumpling Co. Customers trust us to make a product that they can confidently feed to their children.

That became of major importance to me and Shumei to make sure that our products meet a very high standard consistently. The old saying is, “you are what you eat”
